Jonah Abbott, will be published in print and ebook editions on November 22, 2024. An audiobook with immersive sound design, effects, music, and vocal performance is also under production, with an Audible-exclusive release targeted to Q1 2025. A campaign to crowdfund the book’s release goes live today on Kickstarter.
Niena and Tollan Cresthaven are the teenage children of a poor widower blacksmith working in the slums of Celwaith Tor. When an ominous cloaked figure that only Niena can see destroys the city square, Tollan is drafted into the Drüstanian army, shattering what is left of their family.
Now, the siblings must face their mysterious heritage, overcome their differences, and reunite with their father in the midst of a burgeoning war between men and elves, and between science and sorcery . . .
Against the Warring Winds is a clean, family-centric fantasy novel with loose allegorical connections to Christian beliefs and morality. The novel is ideal for readers ages 16 and up seeking stories that feature suspenseful action, deep character relationships, and fantasy worlds with rich history and mythology.

For C. Jonah Abbott, a resident of Greeley, Colorado, releasing his novel after three years of work is a dream come true. “Growing up in small-town Rolla, Missouri, I read almost every book I could find . . . I always found myself drawn back to the fantasy and science fiction genres.” It was only after his short story The Codes of Binding took third place in the Baen Fantasy Adventure Award contest in 2021 that he found the motivation to pen a full-length novel. “The small family of characters I had created for that story was the perfect starting point. I was already invested in the lives of Niena, Tollan, and Voster, and I couldn’t stop there.”
That award-nominated short story is available as one of many rewards for supporters of Against the Warring Winds on the book’s Kickstarter campaign. Other items include backers having their names placed in the book’s acknowledgments, DRM-free downloads of the ebook and audiobook editions, and a signed and numbered limited edition also released by Anointed Colony Media.
